Threshold was breached at the TIMBA

39 degrees Fahrenheit at ride time…32 degrees when finished. For those of you that know me, that means one thing. My cold weather threshold has been breached. If it keeps up, last night was my last ride of the season. My slimness can’t take the cold. If the Gringo would have been on time, the temp might have been above the 40 degree mark at ride time. So technically we would have made it. We didn’t get started until about 6 so the lights were on from the start.

We ended up riding the TIMBA again last night. We rode this course back on June 12 and July 17. Last night was the fastest ride average of each of the last times we have ridden here this year. Cold weather motivates in mysterious ways. We actually cut out a couple of the trails such as the Rudy section to shorten things up. I was doing alright on keeping warm until we hit a long road section near the end of the ride. Things got wicked cold after that. We didn’t have any major breakdowns along the way either.

Parts of the TIMBA were in serious need of some trail maintenance. I’m not sure our membership dues are going to the maintenance staff or not. I think they are going to the president’s beer fund. But then again, we did get some hot dogs and a warm fire from him after the ride. Good show.

Here is the course data as upload to Garmin Connect.

* We went 10.92 miles in 02:04:27 for an average of 5.3 mph for the ride
* I hit a max speed of 20.0 mph somewhere on a downhill (darkness anyone??)
* No good map detail on this area from Google (why not??, Google has a bizzillion dollars, can’t they afford to buy some decent map data on the TIMBA???!!)
* Here is the PDF of the topographical map
* Here is the KMZ file
* Here is the Topo overlay file for the ride (combine the two in Google Earth)

If the weather makes a turn for the better, I will live to blog again next week. If not; season done! Check back next week to see which scenario played out.
