All Misty in Bedford

Alright.  We got all misty in Bedford last Thursday.  Sounds weird huh?  Actually it misted a lot while we were riding but it reminded me of the INXS song, Mystify.  You know…All Veils and Misty, Streets of Blue, Almond Looks, That Chill Divine.  Mystify Me.  It was a good song back in the day…timeless classic.  No?  And my new bike is blue.

Anyway.  The last time I rode in Bedford (Lexington) was back in October 2008.  I didn’t get a sense from the gang that they rode here in 2009 either.  They have a brand new billboard outside the entrance showing a large map and some propaganda.  They posted a new website for people to get maps and the history of the land.  It escapes me right now but maybe one of the gang members remembers it and can post it in the comments.

We were missing the gringo due to sickness for the ride.  So it was just me, TiCruz, and NatGeo.  Ti tried his best to get us a nice loop but without the gringo, we missed a couple of trails somewhere along the way.  In looking at the GPS stats from last Oct, 2008 to this ride, it seems we missed about 0.4 mile of trails last Thursday and yet rode faster by 1.0 mph.  I KNEW TICRUZ WAS GOING FASTER.  I JUST KNEW IT.  Data doesn’t lie Ti.   It was ok though.  It was a fun ride.  We saw most of the area.  It was still quite twisty.  That website is bothering me…what was it??

My new bike continues to be awesome.  So plush.  TiCruz is definitely crazier on his new bike.  The gringo is slower due to his bike being heavier.  (just kidding G)  NatGeo is riding with a big crack in his frame and is waiting for a new one to come into the bike shop.  When you get it Geo, put it on eBay and buy yourself something nice.

We’ll have to check out the Paint Mine Area across the street from Turning Mill Road which is where we park and go up the power lines to the Bedford area.  We saw some riders coming out of the trail head and going across the street to the Paint Mines.  Looks like some good riding down there.  We might be able to add another hour to the ride.

Here is the course data and map as uploaded to Garmin Connect.  We went 7.13 miles in 01:28:07 for an average speed of 4.9 mph.  I hit a maximum speed of 20.4 mph on a downhill.  As I mentioned earlier, this is 1 mph faster and a little less than 1/2 mile shorter than the last time we rode here.

NatGeo provided the venting for the evening.  TiCruz is on vacation for a while so hopefully we can get the gringo out there tomorrow.  That is if the thundershowers holds off.
